£50 Tesco Vouchers for people living alone in the East Riding

Citizens Advice Hull and East Riding (CAHER) has received £45,000 from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council Hardship Fund to distribute directly to people living in the East Riding, struggling with rising living costs.

This new scheme provides a one-off £50 Tesco voucher. To be eligible for the £50 Tesco Voucher Household Support Fund payment, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Live in the East Riding of Yorkshire
  • Live alone and without any dependent children
  • Be struggling to make ends meet

Jim Doyle, Chair of CAHER, said: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with East Riding of Yorkshire Council on the Cost of Living challenges faced across our county. This voucher scheme will help alleviate the immediate hardship people find themselves in.

Since April 2022, we have seen a month on month increase in single people without children accessing our service for advice related to a financial crisis. With only one income stream coming into a home and energy bills soaring, single-person households find their budgets more stretched than ever.”

Tracy Wharvell, CEO of CAHER, said, “As well as receiving a £50 voucher, we will also check you are receiving all entitlements, provide advice on energy bills, and can help you manage debt repayments.

We expect unprecedented demand for advice throughout the winter, so we continue our volunteer recruitment drive. Volunteers are a vital part of our work in our local communities. Not only does it support us to help more people, but it also enables volunteers to give something back to their local area.”
