Talk Money Week: #StartTheConversation
We’re supporting Talk Money Week, which aims to break down barriers and make it easier for people to share their thoughts and feelings about money.

It can be difficult to start the conversation about money. That’s why #TalkMoney Week is a great opportunity to kickstart a conversation with friends, family or colleagues. In fact, building money conversations into our everyday lives can help us build the financial confidence and resilience needed to face whatever the future has in store for us.
If you’re not sure where to start, why not #StartTheConversation to improve financial wellbeing using the guidance available on MoneyHelper.
If you’re in Hull on Saturday (November 8, 2025), come and see us at Princes Quay from 11am-3pm as part of a special Talk Money Week event.
If you’re worried about bills, benefits, budgeting or debt, we’ll be among the many local organisations offering advice and support!
Our Advice First Aid project in Hull is targeted at ensuring local community groups and organisations can support people to access the right information and help.
As our Community Trainer Johnny Moorhead explains in the video below, it’s vital for communities to #StartTheConversation to tackle issues around money and finances.
Everyone’s struggling financially right now… and it’s really important that people aren’t afraid to talk about that in a community centre around their peers.
One of the main things people ask in our training sessions is how to help people deal with a debt crisis, and Advice First Aid can help our communities to understand where to turn for free, independent support from local organisations.
Advice First Aid can help local groups:
- Upskill staff and volunteers
- Know when to help and when to signpost
- Listening, giving information and
- signposting to the right service
- Find out how to find the right information to
- help their clients.
This is all delivered in a fun, interactive three-hour session. To find out more, get in touch at training@hull-eastridingcab.org.uk or call 01482 328990.
Our advisers from across our local teams serving Hull and the East Riding love to talk about money and to help people solve their problems. We’re a local charity and our advice is free and independent. Here are some tips from our teams.
